Basic process

Step 1: Add items to your cart
Add the items that you want to sell to your cart. If you are selling a large quantity of bulk items, rough counts are fine.
Step 2: Fill out and submit the buyback application
Step 3: Pack and ship your items (include a copy of your ID if necessary)
Once we receive your items, we will let you know.
Step 4: Once we check your items, we will email you the final amount and pay
If you want to approve the final amount first, we will pay after receiving approval.

Buyback cart and price guarantees
Kai Tora provides a flexible buyback experience.
Add items to the cart for detailed appraisal results and a 2-week price guarantee from the date of sending your buyback request.
However, you don't have to add items to the cart. In this case, the buyback price will be the market price at the time of appraisal. The appraisal results for items not added to the cart will combined on one line.
* Buyback prices are before condition evaluations.

General FAQ

Q: What is bulk buyback?
A:
Items not listed individually on this site are purchased at a flat rate.

Q. I can't find the product I am looking for
A. If you can't find a specific product or don't know which version it is, try searching the product code on the side of the case or with the barcode.

Q: How long does it take to process items?
A:
It depends on the number of transactions and the number of items in each transaction. Processing generally takes 1 to 7 days. If it might take longer than that, we will let you know after your items arrive.

Q: When do I get paid?
A: Once your items are processed, within 3 banking days. If you want to confirm the buyback amount first, then within 3 banking days of your approval.

Q: Can I sell duplicates?
A:  Yes. The prices are as follows:
- 1st copy: Price as shown
- 2nd copy: 80% of the price
- 3rd copy: 50% of the price
- 4th to 9th copy: 25% of the price
- 10th copy and after: 10% of the price
*For flat rate items, the price shown applies to the first 4 copies. The 5th copy and after are 50% the base price.
*Trading cards: Rate is not affected by number of duplicates.
*The above prices are base prices prior to condition checks.

Q: Do you buy from businesses?
A: Yes. If you are a corporation, please use the name of your representative or a staff member in the application. For ID verification, please see the corresponding section below.

Q: Can you handle large transactions?
A: Advance approval is required if you are sending more than 6 boxes at one time. Please email us with the details about what you are selling.

Q: Can I use this service if I am under 18?
A: No.

Q: What happens to items that I can't sell?
A: If we cannot buy any of your items due to conditional defects or other reasons, we can dispose of them at no cost or send them back at your expense.

Approving and cancelling transactions

You do not need to contact us if you want to cancel before shipping your items.

Manual approval:
・After we send you the final valuation, email us within 1 week to approve, cancel, etc.
・If we do not hear from you within 1 week, we will consider it an approval and proceed with payment.
・You can cancel all or a part of the order.
・Customers are responsible for return shipping.
Auto approval:
・We will proceed directly with payment once the items are checked. Transactions cannot be canceled.

Shipping

Most Japanese buyback services offer free shipping, but they offset that by lowering their overall prices, and in many cases, they don't buy low-value items. We don't cover shipping, but as a result, you get fairer and more transparent prices.

You can ship items how you want, but we recommend a method with tracking.

Tips for reducing shipping costs:
   ・Shipping one large box is cheaper than shipping two or more smaller boxes.
   ・Stack items neatly.

Tips to ensure items arrive safely:
   ・Boxes full of cards are quite heavy, so ensure the box is sturdy enough for the weight. 
   ・Tape boxes in an H pattern, both top and bottom, and consider an additional line of tape at the bottom perpendicular across the middle.
   ・Put cards in a plastic bag or in bubble wrap to protect from moisture due to rain, etc.

Proof of ID

According to Japanese law, we may need to check your identity. We cannot pay you until the process is complete in cases where it is required. As long as your address and name remain the same, you only need to go through this process once. The name on your ID must match the name on the bank account receiving the payment.

Proof of ID is required in the following cases:
1. The transaction value is 10,000 yen or more
2. The transaction includes video games, books, music, or videos

In other words, if you are only sending us cards, and we are paying you less than 10,000 yen, then this process is not required.

Option 1 (recommended): Send us a Certificate of Residence (jyuminhyo 住民票) with your items. You can get it from a post office, conbini, ward office, etc. Once we receive your certificate, the process is complete. We only need your (the seller's) name and current address on the certificate.

Requirements:
-The document must have been issued within the past 3 months.
-The document does not show your My Number.
-Cannot be a copy of the certificate.

Option 2: Email or print and send a copy of your ID (driver's license, residence card, etc.)
With this method, we must verify your address by sending you a non-forwardable postcard (we will cover the cost unless it needs resent). After you get the postcard, email us the code as proof that it was received. We will send you the postcard once we receive your items. It can take a few days for the postcard to arrive.

Requirements:
-Your ID must be valid
-It must show your current name and address

Examples of IDs you can use: driver's license, health insurance card, residence card, My Number card (front side only), and other identity documents issued by the government

Option 3: Drop your items off at our office, and show us your ID (driver's license, etc.) in person. If you want to go with this option, please email us to make an appointment and ensure someone is available to receive your items.

ID verification for corporations:
Please send the following with your items.

(1): Business registration certificate (登記事項証明書) or seal registration certificate (印鑑登録証明書) (cannot be a copy)
(2): If the applicant is not the company representative shown on the registration certificate, the applicant's ID (driver's license, etc.) (can be sent by email)
(3): The business card of the person in (2) (if available)
